There are many resources at the UCI Libraries devoted to the
study of Social Ecology, an interdisciplinary and applied area of the social,
behavioral sciences and environmental sciences that studies different aspects of
the human condition. The specific
collection to serve the MA Program in Urban & Regional Planning (MURP) is
young as is the academic program here and it is focused upon the general
materials, and the specific research interests and coursework that is offered at the present by faculty in the department. The collection has grown rapidly
in parallel as the program expanded its emphases, reflecting more of a public
policy orientation and more faculty and students join it. Some of the current special interests
reflect strong interdisciplinary interests and include: transportation,
preservation, geographical information systems (GIS), public policy, urban
planning and development, housing, social & developmental psychology across
the lifespan, criminal justice, law and society, environmental sciences, water
sciences, health psychology & promotions, and other parallel interests found
throughout the

Specific areas with
which to become familiar:
There are several methods to use to find resources:
1. ANTPAC - online catalog for UCI - most current source for all materials that are part of the collections and accessible at the UCI Libraries in all formats - includes print, nonprint, video, software, etc
2. MELVYL - online collection for all UC campuses and for the electronic materials bought cooperatively by the California Digital Library
3. WorldCat - international bibliography of library holdings - UCI's holdings are indicated
Selective Indexing & Abstracting Tools or Databases and they, plus others are noted on all the Subject Guides and at "Find Online Resources:"
1. PsycINFO - covers environmental psychology
2. PubMed
3. Environmental Sciences & Pollution Management
4. Lexis Nexis Academic Universe - for Legal Info & News
